I have never had the priveledge to attend Kanakuk, but I have had several friends who have. A dear friend passed away at the age of 28 from cancer on the 1st and his funeral was today. At the funeral they said that he had been to Kanakuk as a child and when he was 8 years old he recieved Christ on his bunk at camp. Then they spoke about his "I'm Third" lifestyle. There was such a peace at his funeral and I know this is because of his faith in and service to Christ! I was very challenged and when I got home I wanted to look up "I'm Third" scriptures. I googled "I'm Third" and this was the first link. AMAZING! I think what you guys do is awesome and even though I have never attended, I hope to send my kids to Kanakuk!!!

Thanks Joe. Your post ministered to one of our daughters who is going through a tough time. No matter how old your kids are, you hurt when they hurt and all we can do is continue to show them the unconditional love of CHRIST and intercede knowing that He will never leave them nor forsake them.
We will be forever grateful to the LORD for prodiving for our 3 children to attend Kanakuk and Kanakomo and for their time spent there as counselors while in college. We want you to know that we love you and are praying for you and standing beside you during this difficult time. CHRIST is the Victor! Thank you for a life lived for the glory of GOD!!!

Thank you for pointing us to this letter. It is so timely as we are walking with our boys through this tough time. Our family loves Kanakuk. We will not let the devil take away the experience and the joy our kids get while they are there. We will continue to send them to kamp every summer until they are too old and then we hope they can spend their summers in college there too, giving back to the kamp that gave them so much.

Jay thanks so much for the response. You mentioned a local processor was/is used for some prints. Does this mean Smug Mug is cheaper for the Kamp families than having them deveoped by a local processor? I have noticed that the prices are higher than they use to be and there was no problems with pictures being uploaded before. Just a kamp family seeking for some answers... thanks for your blog! Greg- To the best of my knowledge after the conversion to digital almost 10 years ago Kanakuk has always printed their own photos until this year with SmugMug. Before the conversion to digital and on some jobs since a local processor was used.

When my son was born in 1993, my sister Kath said, "I can't wait till he is 7 and can go to Kanakuk." As the years past, it soon became time for Kamp. My dad and another sister drove Alex to Kamp. As my sister was hiding behind a pole so Alex could not see the tears in her eyes, Alex proclaimed, "This is the moment I have waited for my whole life!" He's now a 9 year Kamper and looks forward to his week at K-7 more than any other week of the year. Kamp is the best way to spend the summer and gives kids amazing experiences along with a Christ-centered week.

IN JOE WHITE'S BOOK, PURE EXCITEMENT, HE MENTIONS A CAMP POSSIBLY IN CAHOOTS WITH MW SMITH THAT WOULD NOT BE THE TYPICAL KANAKUK SPORTS CAMP. INSTEAD IT WOULD BE AN ARTS CAMP FOR KIDS WHO EXCELLED IN MUSIC AND THEATRE. CAN'T FIND ANYTHING OUT ON GOOGLE OR OTHER BLOGS. ANYONE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THIS CAMP?? I arrived at KAA1 to get my daughter from quarantine, not knowing what I would find. The nurses greeted me with a hug and assured me that my child was being taken care of. The staff was so incredibly organized and diliegent in the midst of all the craziness. They were obviously short-staffed, but still every sick child was being cared for. I was amazed at the proficiency of the whole process. My daughter, a counselor, cried when she left without saying goodbye to her campers and fellow counselors, but we knew it was best to get out so they could take care of others. Cudos to KAA for their ability to maintain order in such chaos. God definitely had his hand in all of this. I will continue to pray for KAA and all the staff who have worked tirelessly to continue the Lord's work here. Love to all of you.

Please pray for these kiddos and their families. Even when they were sick, they were so precious and so cooperative. The doctor who was at camp was amazing and the nursing staff worked tirelessly to care for the kids, kampers, and staff as quick as they could. In the midst of all the business trying to care for them, you could see God's hand at work and the situation provided for some wonderful moments of witnessing from counselors who were also sick to the kiddos who were isolated. God is till in control. Pray for their safety and wellness and that god will continue the work he started in their lives at an amazing place called KAA.

I heard from Kay Holliday that the kamp store is now selling a cd with all of the kamp theme songs since 1984. Is there a way to purchase it through the kamp website? I didn't see it in the online store.

How can you tell your child's ok? They can seem to post photos, it appears the web site is broke or is it they just are not concerned. I find it hard to believe that a "family valued" camp doesn't care about parent support!
